Skateboarding è more than a sport: è culture, lifestyle and passion. Few in Italy can boast the experience and dedication of Francesco Ugolini, who decided to condense his knowledge into a revolutionary book for all board lovers, from beginners to the most experienced skaters.

Who è Francesco Ugolini?

Francesco Ugolini è one of the most influential figures in the world of Italian skateboarding. Born in 1963, he discovered skateboarding in 1976 thanks to a gift from the United States. From that moment, his passion led him to explore every aspect of the discipline, becoming one of the mostù great promoters of skateboarding in our country. In 1989 he won the World Tight Slalom Pro Winner title in Turin, marking a historic moment for Italian skateboarding. In addition to distinguishing himself in slalom, Ugolini also devoted himself to snowboarding, participating in numerous half-pipe competitions, where he achieved several first and second places. With over 47 years' teaching experience, Francesco è 3° CONI level coach for skateboarding and has trained hundreds of athletes, contributing to the growth of skateboarding as a structured sport in Italy. His school, founded in Pescantina, è has been a reference point for many young skateboarders, to whom he has transmitted not only the technique, but also the philosophy of the sport.

The book: a complete guide to skateboarding and more

Ugolini's new book is not è a simple collection of techniques, but a real guide that addresses skateboarding at 360°, both from a motor and technical and historical point of view. In addition to explaining the basics of all specialties, the book introduces an innovative technique developed by the author, which allows you to learn how to skateboard in just one day.

Through detailed charts and unpublished treatises, the reader will be able to understand the fundamental mechanisms of the sport as never before. The work deals in depth with a number of key concepts, such as biomechanics applied to skateboarding, which is analyzed with a scientific approach that has never been dealt with before. The motor link between the different disciplines of skateboarding is also highlighted, showing how certain movements can cut across street, bowl and slalom. Ugolini also introduces innovative techniques to accelerate learning, based on psycho-motor recordings that allow for improved responsiveness and board mastery in reduced time.

. An interesting aspect è is the analysis of the equipment: the functions of each component are explained in detail, including often underestimated elements such as sloping riser pads, which can affect stability and cornering ability. The book also delves into advanced dynamics such as how è you can accelerate and decelerate simply by changing your posture in turns or transitions. The safety section provides tips for dealing with typical skateboarding fears, such as that of vacuum in vertical ramps.

Ugolini introduces the concept of "safety drops," a method for getting the body and mind used to handling height situations without risk. In addition, a comprehensive overview of all types of skateboards and their components is presented, so as to help the reader choose the board best suited to his or her style. The book also offers an educational progression designed to accompany skateboarders on their learning journey, providing a logical and effective ladder.

. Another distinctive element of the book è the part dedicated to building a skatepark, in which Ugolini provides advice on how to design and build structures suitable for every level of experience, creating spaces that encourage technical improvement and safety for skaters. To make reading even more engaging, the book è enriched with personal anecdotes from the author, who recounts firsthand experiences to explain certain technical choices.

This approach makes the text not only educational, but also exciting, offering an authentic glimpse into the history of skateboarding in Italy.

Whyé is this book è important?

According to Ugolini, the skateboarding world suffers from the lack of a structured school, capable of guiding those who approach this discipline. Too often, beginners receive confused or incorrect advice, leading them to abandon the sport before they even discover its true potential.

. The goal of this book è to fill this gap by providing a clear, progressive and scientific method of learning. Using his expertise and long experience as a teacher, Ugolini offers a unique approach that canò revolutionize the way skateboarding is practiced and taught.

Francesco Ugolini's book è a read for anyone who wants to improve their technique or simply understand skateboarding culture more deeply. With a mix of didactics, experience and passion, this text stands as a point of reference for all Italian skateboarders.
