The Pipe is a surfskate from Yow's Power Surfing series, which is inspired by some of the most famous waves on the planet. The Pipe has been one of YOW's top models for several years.
The graphics of the table are inspired by the classic and glittering table by Gerry Lopez ... an icon, simply MYTHICAL!
The deck has a rounded shape, a nice and wide fish tail and a length and wheelbase that make it extremely comfortable to ride, even for those who are tall enough or prefer a more relaxed style.
As soon as you step on it the feeling is of an extremely soft and light skate under your feet. Just push lightly with toes and heels to tilt the board and pump.
The skate starts easily even when stationary and accelerates immediately. You can start pumping to generate speed.
YOW mounts a tilting truck where rebounding is guaranteed by a spring. In practice, the more you push, the more it responds and accelerates.
As for the measurements, the Pipe is 32 inches long, 10 inches wide and has a wheelbase of 18.5
So a nice wide deck that offers plenty of support for the feet and a wide wheelbase.
The wheelbase deserves some reflection.
If we compare it to Carvers whose wheelbase is usually around 17 inches, this Yow has a rather long wheelbase. So you would expect a surfskate suitable only for very large carvings.
In reality this is not the case. The YOW Pipe, thanks to its truck, turns very tight, so tight that you don't really feel the need to have a narrower wheelbase.
As soon as you step on it the feeling is of a very soft and really super, super smooth surfskate.
At first the Pipe 32 gave us the impression of being too soft a surfskate, but in reality it only takes a few minutes to get carried away. After a few hours it seems to have always had it under your feet. In the small space at our disposal, when we were still in quarantine, it was one of our favorites. Yow practically turns on itself and allows you to have fun and simulate surf maneuvers in flat in very little space.
On several occasions we have also had the opportunity to try it in the park, on ramps or on artificial waves. The Yow Pipe 32, despite being extremely soft, is still stable and easy to handle even vertically. Here the abundant wheelbase and the generous deck really help a lot.
Same thing goes for those who are beginners. The beginners we tried it all got along very well with YOW right away because it's easy to accelerate. And the same goes for children who, even if very light, are able to pump.
Speaking of kids, the S4 truck with the softer spring would be indicated for them, however we saw that even our son who is about 20kg in the end was also happy with this S5.
In conclusion, this Yow Pipe 32 is an extremely fluid, fun and versatile surfskate . Excellent for cruising, long walks, cycle paths, along the sea, wide and soft carvings but equally suitable for narrow spaces such as small parking lots and courtyards where it surprises for its agility and manageability. From wide and soft turns to snaps ... The Pipe is a perfect surfskate for training in surfing even in small spaces both in flat and on ramps, skateparks and artificial waves.
Attention only when the speed increases a lot because you need a good technique and precision to maintain control and avoid a wipeout!
RECOMMENDED: to everyone, from beginners to advanced, from those looking for a surfskate to feel the flow, with large and soft carvings as well as to those with a more aggressive tablet soul.
NOT RECOMMENDED: for those who love speed and reverse maneuvers, for very very heavy riders
