BEST DESTINATIONS FOR LOW COST SUMMER KITE TRIPS

Our ranking of medium-range low-budget kitesurfing destinations.

Summer is almost upon us and if you haven't booked your summer kite trip yet, you should do it fast! Here are some of our favorite destinations for kitesurfing abroad, to be reached with a few hours of flight and with a small budget, ideal also for last minute bookings. They are all quite close destinations but outside Italy, because we have already talked about the destinations for a kitetrip in Italy . Furthermore, these destinations all have to be suitable for beginners, including those who want to do their very first kitesurfing course, but some are also perfect for freestylers or waveriders. We have excluded top destinations, but now too inflated and really too crowded, like Tarifatop destination for kitesurfing but I don't recommend it in July or August (unless you are looking for the nightlife rather than a quiet spot for kitesurfing).

5) Egypt, El Nabaa . The Red Sea has always been a favorite destination for kitesurfing, both in summer and in winter. El Naaba bay is located about 30 km from the airport of Marsa Alam, on the Red Sea, easily accessible with flights from the main Italian cities. Compared to other spots in the area it boasts stronger and more constant wind conditions and two bays without corals that allow even beginners to learn without danger. June, July and August are the windiest months with over 80% chance of wind over force 4. Here the ideal is to stay at the Three Corners Equinox Beach Resort Hotel, a good 4 star directly on the spot.
Recommended for: beginners, freestylers.

4) Greece , Kos. Greece is an excellent destination for a summer kite trip: dozens of beaches to choose from, meltemi that blows in the summer months, good food and budget under control, also thanks to the many Ryan air flights and other low cost flights from all the major Italian cities. The island of Kos in particular is one of the most frequented by kiters, due to its excellent wind statistics and the presence of numerous spots a short distance from each other, most of which are located on the northern coast. A holiday in Greece is without a doubt one of the best choices even if you travel with partners who are not kitesurfing, because a holiday in Greece undoubtedly always has a lot to offer. Alternatively you can also consider Rhodes and Lefkada.

3) Morocco, Essaouira. Essaouira is easily reachable within a few hours by car from Marrakesh airport. Essaouira earns the lowest step of our podium, as an ideal destination for a summer kite trip thanks to its excellent wind statistics in the summer, but not only. Essaouira is a decidedly low-cost destination, easily accessible from many cities with Ryan Air. Essaouira is one of the jewels of Morocco, a small jewel enclosed by fortified walls. Here who accompanies you can shelter from the wind in the lounge bar directly on the spot, stroll in the narrow streets of the center, explore local crafts, go horse riding, camel or even quad. Essaouira is also an excellent destination for lovers of wave riding, but this does not mean that it is not an ideal spot for beginners too.

2) Portugal, Algarve. The Algarve in southern Portugal is an ideal destination for a summer kitetrip. Uncrowded white beaches even in summer, majestic cliffs, wild nature, good food and friendly locals. For flights you are spoiled for choice: Seville or Lisbon are both very close and served by many low cost, another factor that makes this destination ideal also for a last minute holiday. Here are all the ingredients to get on the second position of our podium. The Algarve, thanks to its position exposed to Atlantic perturbations, enjoys excellent conditions for kitesurfing even in the summer months. If you are a lover of the road, this is the right holiday because from Lagos to Peniche there is a succession of spots and beaches, but also delightful villages to discover and a little of nightlife near Albufeira. Even if you are not kitesurfing in Portugal, you will not have to eat only sand from morning to night, but you can also discover the local cuisine. As for your level of kitesurfing, Portugal is perfect whether you are a beginner, because you will not struggle to find good kitesurfing schools, immense beaches in which to learn without danger, even sheltered from the waves. If, on the other hand, it is the waves you are looking for, you have only to be spoiled for choice ... even if July and August are certainly not the months of the big swells, you can be sure that you will always find something surfable. 1) Canary Islands, Lanzarote. Lanzarote is a destination that is still not very crowded, and this makes it the first place in our ranking. Excellent wind statistics and a spot, that of Famara, where you can approach kitesurfing without danger. In addition, this is an excellent destination for advanced kiters who wish to approach waveriding or who are already experts. The Canary Islands are beaten by the trade winds that in the summer become more intense and constant, making these islands excellent destinations for kite-surfing enthusiasts. If you are traveling with those who are not kitesurfing or as a family, the small village of Famara may not be the right choice for you. It depends on what you are looking for in a vacation. Famara is a place far from everything, not very crowded, without the classic cafes, little shops, tourist restaurants. Here you will not find luxury resorts, indeed there are no hotels. There are apartments for rent and some very exclusive villas chosen for absolute privacy and a wild environment ... but don't think they are cheap! If this is not what you are looking for, if on holiday you like nightlife, you can choose to stay in Puerto del Carmen, a pretty tourist town about half an hour's drive from Famara.
If you are looking for a bit of nightlife a stone's throw from the spot it could be a better choice Fuerteventura , but keep in mind that the flag beach spot, near Corralejo, is too crowded in summer and if you are a beginner the combination of crowding in water and reef it's not really optimal.

COMMENTI

Autore: Vale

Ho incontrato il kitesurf nel 2002 ed è subito stato amore. Qualche anno dopo mi sono avvicinata anche al surf. Quando sono in acqua sono felice e se sei su questo sito probabilmente sai già di cosa sto parlando. Ci vediamo in acqua.
