The ocean is our playground, our competition area and the relaxation area, our source of inspiration and thrill. We like it. Not only because of the endless opportunities it offers for kite and windsurfing, but also for the power, strength and beauty it emanates. Without it, kitesurfing and windsurfing would not be the same thing. Yet this essential part of our life is seriously threatened.

Huge amounts of waste, especially plastic, endanger our oceans and the fauna that lives there. By now, plastic represents the majority of marine litter worldwide. Experts estimate it at millions of tons. And these numbers are growing. According to the UN, every year over 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean - they are equivalent to unloading a plastic truck every minute. If we continue to unload items such as plastic bottles, bags and cups after a single use at our current pace, estimates suggest that by 2050 the oceans will contain more plastic than fish. Plastic is particularly harmful to the environment as it does not break easily. A PET bottle, for example, takes up to 450 years to decompose completely.

Erik Solheim, head of the United Nations environmental program, said: "The time has come for us to tackle the problem of the plastic that ruins our oceans: plastic pollution is navigating on Indonesian beaches, it settles on the ocean floor at the North Pole , and goes up through the food chain on our tables from pranz.o We stood still looking too long and the problem got worse. Let's stop it now. We act and we are not waiting for someone else to take care of the problem.

For these reasons Duotone has decided to promote this initiative, to help clean our favorite spots, all over the world.

Ho incontrato il kitesurf nel 2002 ed è subito stato amore. Qualche anno dopo mi sono avvicinata anche al surf. Quando sono in acqua sono felice e se sei su questo sito probabilmente sai già di cosa sto parlando. Ci vediamo in acqua.
