Skate carver Yago Dora Skinny Goat

The Yago Dora Skinny Goat is the new Carver model developed in collaboration with the Brazilian pro surfer Yago Dora. Actually Carver had already made a model together with Yago some time ago, the Yago Dora 2018 precisely. This new surfskate, however, is not just a restyle, it is a completely new skate and with rather evident differences, starting from the size.

The Carver Yago Dora Skinny Goat 2019 skate has a length of 30.75 '' and an interaxis between the two tracks of 16 and 3/4 (therefore slightly shorter than the Resin 31 to compare it with one of the most popular models of Carver).
We tried the Skinny Goat with CX track and NON concave 70mm Roundhouse wheels. This of the non-concave wheels is our personal choice, as the Skinny Goat is usually sold with concave wheels. Personally, however, we find the concave wheels a little too grippy, less fast and a little less polyvalent than the concave wheels ... but clearly it depends first of all given the terrain, as well as the tastes and the use that is made of skate .

But let's get to our test.

The first thing that catches the eye is the shape of the deck which has a double kick. In fact, compared to resin 31 or Proteus, if we observe it we notice that the edge of the YAGO is slightly raised as well as the tip of the board. this is not a random choice: the double kick improves the thrust on the table, translating it into more speed on the wheels and less radius of curvature.

The size also contributes to further increasing the handling. Being slightly shorter and wider than Yago's previous model makes it spin tighter and pump more.

As soon as you step on it, your character is perceived immediately under your feet.
If you are a skate novice you will probably think that the only differences between one model and another are in terms of graphics, or so. Well we assure you it isn't. It's not just a question of trucks. Even minimal differences in the size or shape of the deck translate into notable differences in skate behavior.

This is fully demonstrated by this Yago Skinny Goat surfskate which has a different set-up and handling from the other carvers we have tried, such as the Resin 31 or the Proteus.

PUMPING

As I said at the beginning, pumping with the Yago Dora skateboard is super. And I remind you that we had not mounted the C7 truck but the CX. Not for nothing is a surfskate designed to make you pump like never before. The particular shape of the deck helps to impart more strength and each push translates into greater speed. In a direct comparison with the Resin 31, always with the CX truck, with the Yago we managed to get more thrust and therefore a slightly higher speed.

SKATE PARK

With the necessary premise that we are not experts in park tricks, we still like to have some fun with the ramps from time to time. The Carver Yago Skinny Goat with CX truck turned out to be really fun in the park, although we needed to get a little handshake before we could push it properly and this is because under the feet it is still a very sensitive skate, and even with the CX truck it always remains mobile. Let's say that if the Park is your second home, perhaps the tritons, perhaps a Xenon, are more suitable.

Conclusions

The Carver Yago Skinny Goat is a super responsive surfskate, fast and at the same time with an immediate feeling. If you are looking for a surfskate for surfing training, for ever tighter and more radical curves, but also for having fun on long journeys, this is without doubt one of the models we recommend.
