Year-end time to take stock. And even if this 2020 is the year that we will sadly remember for the pandemic, and the lockdown, we are not here to talk about this now but simply about what we usually take care of and that is our beloved board sports, surfskate in particular. Despite the pandemic, indeed probably due to the pandemic, this was the year of the surfskate explosion in Italy and in the world.
With travel restrictions, difficulties in reaching your favorite surfing destinations or even simply your own surf spot a few kilometers from home, the surfskate has literally exploded and established itself as a substitute and no longer just as an aid to surfing. Many have approached the surfskate to simulate surfing in the backyard of their own home, even on the terrace or in the garage and then they became passionate about it because as we all know by now it is really incredibly fun.
But let's get back to us. In these days we have been curious to see what your favorite surfskates have been. Which models were most purchased online on our shop and the result surprised us in some ways, so we thought we'd share it with you.
5. Triton Xenon 29
The Triton Xenon was apparently the favorite surfskate of most kids. Many parents have in fact chosen this 29-inch Triton for their children. Compact, handy, fun. The Triton 29 was appreciated by those looking for a small but not too radical skate with which to have a little fun in all situations, from the walk to the park ... and in fact we also gave one to our grandson.
If you are looking for it to buy it, you too know that in 2021 it changed its name and graphics, but not the substance ... and now it is called Triton Astral.
4. Slide Fish 32
In fourth place in our ranking we find one of Slide's most loved models: the Fish 32 in its three colors (Marajo, Tuna and Pavones). The Fish slightly outperforms Diamond and Gussie, deservedly in our opinion, thanks to its multi-purpose measures and truly suitable for most people and conditions.
Unfortunately they must not have thought like us and you at Slide, where for 2021 they have reduced the colors available to only 2 and all with smaller wheels ... too bad!
3. Yow Pipe & Lakey Peak
Equal merit on the third step of the podium are two of the most beautiful surfskates on which we have ever laid our eyes and feet. Yow Pipe 32 is a real icon, a beautiful and often unfortunately unavailable surfskate. Lakey Peak 32 is her twin having almost identical measurements. Both are two fantastic surfskates not only graphically but also super smooth, fun to use, relaxing. We could define them as the ideal surfskates for 90% of people ...
2 Carver Black Tip
The Black tip 32.5 is placed on the second step of the podium in place beating the timeless Resin 31 which has defended itself well anyway. There is no doubt that the Black tip is one of the most loved carver surfskates, really very successful. Beautiful, gritty, fun, performing. This surfskate has been chosen by many surfers for their specific surf training. In our count we have grouped the Black tip with CX and C7, but we reveal that among the two systems the most bought was the c7, chosen by 55% of those who opted for this model.
Slide Swallow 33
And here we are at the first place, where a bit surprisingly we find the Slide Swallow 33 (in the Noserider and Wahine colors). The Swallow 33 is a surfskate dedicated to those looking for a longboard style and to riders who prefer to have a wider base under their feet. A great surfskate for practicing sweeping turns, moving and dancing the same way you would surf a longboard.

In the year of the pandemic, availability also affected a lot. Many models such as the Pipe or the Carver Blacktip were often unavailable and this certainly affected the numbers. Not to mention the Slides, practically unavailable from October to the end of the year.
