KITESURF

Porto Botte

South Sardinia kitesurf spot

Porto Botte is located in the municipality of Giba, in south-western Sardinia.
The spot consists of a large bay with a beach and sandy bottom, far from the most crowded spots and therefore ideal for both beginners and experts who need plenty of space for all their maneuvers.

The winds are mainly side-shore (a condition that generates flat water) from the North / North-West. The spot is exceptional with the mistral, which enters the starboard side-on shore and is accompanied by flat water.

During the summer the thermal summing up to the mistral can reinforce up to 20-25 knots .. even when the forecasts give only 10-15 knots! The water temperature varies from 6 ° C in winter to 20 ° C in summer. The months with the highest percentage of windy days are May, June, July, August but the probability of wind is high throughout the year (140 days / year of wind or more).

Technical level from beginner to expert.
Range of wings from 8 sqm to 14 sqm.

To get there the coordinates are: N 39 ° 2 ′ 6 ″ W 8 ° 34 ′ 24.24 ″ From Cagliari take the ss130 and follow the indications for Carbonia. In Carbonia continue to S.Antioco. Take the exit for Tratalias and then follow the signs for Giba.

Kite Zone : For the summer of 2007, the construction of an area reserved for the 1200 sqm kite is planned.
